Welcome to the Rutland Sports and Social Club (RSSC) Ltd website

…………………………………………………

We are sorry to have to report that David Bowles  passed away on Good Friday.  David was a regular visitor to the British Legion and as well as serving as a committee he was also the club Secretary in the years leading up to the closure of the Legion. David sadly suffered a stroke shortly after the Poppy n Pint opened and he moved into an assisted housing facility opposite the Cricket Ground which allowed him to go to most games at both County and International level. RIP Dave and thanks for your friendship and commitment to the clubs you supported.

Board meetings

We would like to advise Shareholders that the RSSC Directors will in future be holding two face-to-face Board meetings each year (at 6 monthly intervals) to deal with our financial and legal obligations. Other routine matters will be dealt with ‘on line’ (as was the case during the period when Covid pandemic restrictions were  in place).

If you are interested in purchasing any shares that may become available for sale, please get in contact with the RSSC administrator via  the email address – enquiries@rutlandclub.co.uk

                                             ………………………………………………………….

In early 2021, a fire destroyed the fence, trees and portacabins alongside the former bowling green. As the Tennis Club now rent this area from the RSSC, they assumed responsibility for pursuing an insurance claim and the aforementioned items have now been replaced.

………………………………………………….

The RSSC Ltd (herein after referred to as the RSSC) operates as a private limited company and is run by a board of Directors who act on behalf of RSSC shareholders. The RSSC owns the land occupied by the Poppy and Pint pub (including the building itself), the car park and the grassed area to the rear of the pub (formerly used as a bowling green). Our business activities are solely as ‘landlords’ and we have no direct involvement in the running of the Poppy and Pint (other than ensuring that the terms of the lease are complied with).

Note to shareholders

We would like to increase the number of Board members (currently 6) and would be pleased to hear from any shareholders who may be interested in becoming a Director. The role is not too demanding and normally entails attending just 2 meetings (lasting around an hour) per year. This is your opportunity to have a say in the RSSC’s affairs – please send an email to  enquiries@rutlandclub.co.ukif you’d like to put your name forward or learn more.

Reminder to shareholders

It would be helpful if you could let us know the contact details of your next of kin (or tell your next of kin that you have a share in the RSSC Ltd) so that, in the event of your death, it can readily be transferred to them as an asset.

If you wish to sell your share (see above) or if you are interested in purchasing any shares that may come up for sale, you must apply in writing to us at our registered address – RSSC Ltd, 3 Holloway Close, East Bridgford, Nottingham. NG13 8NG.
